Vipera aspis aspis (Aspic viper) (taxid:194601)

Venom composition image
Figure 1: Composition of Vipera aspis aspis, studied at the proteomic level (Giribaldi et al., 2020); quantified by the whole venom in-solution shotgun approach

The venom contains the following families:
PLA2 (phospholipase A2), svMP (metalloproteinase), svSP (serine protease), CTL/Snaclec (C-type lectin related protein), DI (disintegrin), VEGF, KUN (Kunitz-type inhibitor), LAAO (L-amino acid oxidase) and Cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRISP).
Additionally, as "other" labeled families: NGF, 5NUC (5'-nucleotidase), PDE (phosphodiesterase), HYAL (hyaluronidase), PLB (phospholipase B) and glutaminyl cylcase and amino peptidase;
as well as peptides like svMP-i (tripeptic svMP inhibitors of pHpG), BPP (Bradykinin-potentiating peptide) and NP (natriuretic peptide).
